Terror Strikes East Orange: Join Winter Park Shooting Sports in Coming Together to Make A Difference

In December of 2017, East Orange, New Jersey experienced a terrifying shooting which left one person dead and five others injured. Sadly, similar tragedies like these have been happening all too often in recent years. However, from the ugliness of these traumas more groups and organizations are banding together to try to make a difference. One such group is the Winter Park Shooting Sports’ Club, who through deliberate effort and non-combative aims strive to make our world a safer place. This blog post will be a comparison of the violent occurrences on that fateful night in East Orange with what can be achieved through trying to achieve gun safety measures like those advocated by the WPSS.

The Stats of That Night

In an appalling act of gun violence, multiple people were shot on South Munn Avenue in East Orange on December 22 at aproximately 8PM in front of the home of one of the victims. The shooter(s) remain at large, and much investigation and forensic work have gone into analyzing the contents of the crime thus far. One victim, 30-year-old Jamekia Price was pronounced dead at 9 PM at the location. Three other women and two men received non-life-threatening wounds. All six victims ranged in age from their twenties to their thirties.
